Centre for Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is a specialist field that covers diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and the hormonal glands that belong to the digestive tract.

Gastroenterologists specialise in the development and frequency of gastrointestinal diseases as well as the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

Treatment options

An important area of activity is the diagnosis and treatment of tumours of the gastrointestinal tract.

Other common gastroentological diseases include diseases of the oesophagus and stomach, cirrhosis of the liver, jaundice (hepatitis) and chronic inflammatory bowel disease, e.g. ulcerative colitis.

Interdigest

Interdigest (the Interdisciplinary Gastroenterological Surgical Team) is a network of medical experts in the fields of surgery, gastroenterology and oncology. Providing the best possible treatment for many diseases requires the collaboration of multiple specialists. Each specialist draws upon their own experience when it comes to both assessment and treatment. We also work closely with specialists from pathology, radiology and other fields.

We share one common goal, which is to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive care. We must not lose sight of the patient, which is why they are at the very centre of the treatment we provide. This is the philosophy of Interdigest.

More information about Interdigest

For referring GPs

Interdigest offers GPs the opportunity to quickly and easily contact a pool of experts. GPs know more about their patients as well as their patients’ lives and environment than anyone else. All of these factors contribute to patient-focused treatment. They are the key to establishing a treatment strategy based on individual solutions for each patient. It is for this reason that we actively involve GPs in assessment, treatment and follow-up care. The in-depth patient knowledge of our GP, combined with our specialist knowledge, lay the foundation for successful treatment. On request, referring doctors can participate in the tumour board. This is particularly desirable in polymorbid patients.

For patients

We ensure cooperation with your GP at all times. As a patient, you benefit from comprehensive assessment and treatment by our team of specialists. We regularly conduct our interdisciplinary tumour board and discuss the best treatment method for our patients. We also offer individual assessments and subsequent treatment by the doctor of choice. Most medical assessments are carried out on an outpatient basis and can be performed regardless of your insurance status. For patients with supplementary insurance, inpatient treatment is provided at Privatklinik Bethanien. In the case of patients with general insurance, inpatient treatment is carried out at a partner hospital in consultation with their GP.
