Patient information

At Privatklinik Bethanien, the health, pleasure and well-being of our patients is our top priority. In order to meet the needs of our patients, a highly skilled team will take care of your needs at all times, from insurance and registration to chauffeur service and hairdressing.

Here you will find all the important information you need for your stay with us.

Stay

Registration

Your date of admission and appointments for possible medical examinations will be determined and reserved together with your doctor according to your needs. We will send you a letter confirming your application for admission to the clinic, the patient registration form, the anaesthesia questionnaire and a checklist for preparations for admission. We will need a copy of your insurance policy so that we can obtain a commitment to cover your costs from your insurer. The checklist for preparing for admission is available for download below.

Select the appropriate checklist depending on whether you are going to be on an outpatient, inpatient or based in the maternity ward:

Admission date

Upon admission, you will be greeted at the reception. You will be accompanied to your room and informed about your daily routine and the facilities.

If relevant, please bring with you your blood group card, up-to-date X-rays, ECG or laboratory findings and your own medication.

Please do not bring any valuables or large amounts of cash with you. You can pay for your private expenses by credit card or EC-Direct at reception upon departure. Before surgery, the responsible anaesthetist and your treating doctor will clarify the details with you.

During your hospital stay

We make the daily routine as individual as possible depending on your procedure. The daily doctor’s appointments and nursing visits dictate a certain rhythm. Patients with private insurance can choose between two meal times.

If your health allows, daily visits are always welcome – either in your room, in the bistro or in our beautiful park. It is important to us to provide you with a family atmosphere and a feeling of well-being throughout your stay.

Discharge and follow-up care

Your discharge date and medication will be agreed with your doctor. Where appropriate, our case management team will also discuss with your treating doctor how to organise a rehabilitation stay, a course of treatment or home care in advance.

Questions regarding care after your discharge will be clarified with our case management.

Insurance

Patients insured in Switzerland

In principle, your health insurer covers the costs of the high-quality services provided by Privatklinik Bethanien if you have supplementary hospital insurance (semi-private or private supplementary insurance).

If the procedure at our clinic is handled by accident insurance, the costs of the stay are also covered by the insurance for patients with general insurance.

Our additional service for people with private insurance

At Privatklinik Bethanien, our privately insured patients benefit from the following advantages:

  • True quality that is reflected in the personal interaction with patients and does not remain an administrative matter. The focus is on people.
  • Short decision-making processes, clear responsibilities and maximum flexibility.
  • Consistent focus on patients with supplementary insurance with an individual care approach and clearly identified additional services.
  • Political and financial independence, which creates the conditions for doctors and nurses to be able to orientate themselves to the needs of patients without pressure.
  • 24/7 availability of affiliated doctors and continuity of medical care.

Assurance of costs

Privatklinik Bethanien will ask the health insurer for a commitment to cover the costs of the stay before the patient is admitted. If the health insurer does not guarantee full cost coverage, a deposit may have to be provided before admission. In this case, you will be notified in advance by our patient administration team.

Billing

We prepare the statement in accordance with the contracts concluded with the insurers and in accordance with the applicable health insurance rates of the Canton of Zurich. We settle accounts directly with Swiss health insurers. This means that you will only receive one invoice for services not covered by your health insurance (e.g. telephone costs, meals for your guests, etc.).

Cost estimates/upgrades

If you have general insurance and are interested in a stay at our clinic, we will be happy to prepare a non-binding cost estimate for your stay. We will also be happy to provide you with a quote for an upgrade from semi-private to private or for an overnight stay in one of our junior suites or suites. The latter is also possible in our maternity ward:

Pastoral care

A stay in hospital, physical pain or the diagnosis of an illness can trigger stressful questions and feelings, and the desire for exchange and conversation arises. As chaplains, we have time for whatever is on your mind. We are there for you, as a patient, as a family member, as a friend, as a member of staff,

  • if you want to share your joy, fears, worries and questions with someone;
  • if you are looking for meaning and inner sources of strength;
  • when experiences and adventures call for spiritual interpretation;
  • if you are looking for support and encouragement for your further path.

As chaplains, we are employed by our respective national church. We respect your personal beliefs and values, and we are bound by professional secrecy.

Contact via nursing, reception or directly, from Monday to Thursday.
